A School Community That Loves to Say Thank You: Port Macquarie Adventist School Embraces the Power of Gratitude

There is something special about a community where people take the time to say thank you.
At Port Macquarie Adventist School (PMAS), that spirit of appreciation is becoming increasingly visible, thanks to the school's adoption of the TAP (Thank And Praise) platform.
By integrating TAP directly into its website, the school has created an easy and accessible way for students, parents and the wider school community to recognise and thank the teachers and staff who make such an important difference every day. And the response has been wonderful!
A community that genuinely appreciates its people
For Principal Peter Lindsay, seeing the school community embrace TAP has been particularly encouraging. Peter explains that the school community really loves having the opportunity to share their gratitude with teachers and staff through the platform.
As he puts it:
"We have a wonderful team of caring teachers who are positive and nurturing; and it is great to see the students and parents really enjoying sharing their messages of thanks."
These simple words capture something important about the culture at PMAS.
Teachers and support staff invest so much of themselves in their students. They encourage, guide, support and nurture young people, often going above and beyond what is expected.
Being recognised for those efforts can make a tremendous difference.
And sometimes, all it takes is a few words of appreciation to remind someone that what they do really matters.
Making gratitude part of everyday school life
One of the great things about TAP is how easy it makes expressing appreciation.
By placing the TAP widget on the school's homepage, PMAS has made it simple for its community to share positive messages without having to navigate away to another website or use a complicated process. The messages being shared through the school's TAP page demonstrate the enthusiasm of a community that enjoys recognising the people around them.
Importantly, it is also giving students an opportunity to practise something that is valuable well beyond the classroom: recognising the positive contributions of others.
Learning to say thank you, noticing someone's efforts and taking the time to acknowledge kindness are all important life skills.
When students actively participate in expressing gratitude, they are helping to build a more positive and supportive school environment.
Celebrating the people who make a difference
At TAP, we believe that everyone deserves to feel valued and appreciated. Schools are particularly wonderful places to see the power of gratitude in action. Every day, teachers and school staff make countless contributions that help shape the lives of young people. Yet those contributions can sometimes go unnoticed.
TAP helps change that by providing a dedicated space where positive messages can be shared, seen and celebrated. The experience at Port Macquarie Adventist School is a lovely example of what can happen when a school gives its community an easy way to express appreciation. It is not about grand gestures or elaborate awards. It is about making recognition part of the everyday conversation.
A big thank you to the PMAS community!
We would like to thank Peter Lindsay and the entire Port Macquarie Adventist School community for embracing TAP so enthusiastically. It is fantastic to see students enjoying the experience of sharing their appreciation and teachers and staff receiving the recognition they deserve. PMAS is demonstrating that a little gratitude can go a long way in strengthening relationships, encouraging positivity and helping people feel valued.
And that is exactly what TAP is all about. Because when we take the time to thank and praise the people around us, we make a positive difference – one message at a time.
