Falls on deaf ears, we need help from the local council to help put in escape routes so that people living down local roads have a escape route, we firefighters also need that escape route , we are talking about 4 roads that used to be maintained by the council and were gazzeted roads, but the council got taken over by a much bigger council Gladstone shire council, who claim that they dont have money or resources to maintain the roads , it would take one day for each road to have someone push an escape route through over grown land which is re growth, impossible to do they say. no funds available they say and that means the public who live there will either die in their homes or risk driving through the flames to escape the bush fires, if and when it comes this fire season, we Rural fire fighters also have the risk as unpaid volunteers to go out and fight these bush fires without the support of our local council who could of supported the local community and provided that small token of a driver and Grader for a few days at the most, remember there is 365 days in the year.
